MG unveiled the revolutionary Cyber X, a boxy concept SUV, at the Shanghai Auto Show alongside the 2026 Cyberster, which is available with two new colors and a Black Edition that commemorates MG’s 101st anniversary.
The event also witnessed announcement of a strategic partnership between SAIC Motor Corporation and tech giant OPPO to co-develop a “Smart Cabin” that “seamlessly integrates driving and connectivity, redefining the “Third Space” that will deliver an AI-driven cabin experience, including insight-led services to turn vehicles into mobile digital spaces. The first collaboration between the two brands will be integrated into MG’s upcoming models”.

The MG Cyber X is conceptualized as a “Global Urban Adventure Toy”, using symbolic design language to create fashionable items that showcase adventurous attitudes for the new generation. Created by Jozef Kabaň, vice president of SAIC Design, it has a tall and confident silhouette with extremely short front and rear overhangs.
The surface of the car is sprayed with “Stardust Gray” color, creating a matte texture when stationary, and ripples of light and shadow effect when moving. A nostalgic nod to classic pop-up headlights merges with optimized aerodynamics, resulting in an even more sophisticated look.

Meanwhile, the Cyberster, hailed as the spiritual successor to the MGB roadster, makes its return with upgrades including two new exterior hues— Iris Blue and Andes Gray — and dual-tone Red/Black or Gray/White interiors. Enhanced cabin harmony is achieved through body-color matched trim panels, while an innovative wind deflector slashes cabin turbulence by 90 per cent.
With over 3,000 units delivered globally in six months, the Cyberster reigns as the world’s top-selling electric roadster. To further expand the lineup, a limited Cyberster Black Edition featuring high-gloss black paint and chrome accents, is on slate to be launched alongside the MG Cyber GTS hardtop variant soon.

Beyond a spellbinding showcase of new vehicles at 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, MG’s parent company SAIC Motor Corp made another major move by announcing its strategic partnership with tech giant OPPO to co-create an “Ecosystem Without Borders”.

Their first collaboration, to co-develop the “Smart Cabin” technology that will be integrated into MG’s upcoming models, will deliver an onboard experience where smartphones and vehicles merge seamlessly, enabling cross-device control, contextualized services, and AI-driven personalization that learns and adapts to user behavior accurately.
