The MG S5 electric SUV has been given a 5-star certification from Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme), based on four key assessment areas – adult occupant, child occupant, pedestrian and safety assist.

- A score of 90% in Adult Occupant Protection: Structural integrity was assessed based on a frontal impact test as well as a lateral impact test and the S5 can maintain an adequate level of structural integrity after an impact.
- A score of 82% in Child Occupant Protection: After frontal and lateral impact tests, readings show a good level of protection on both six- and ten-year-old dummies.
- A score of 82% in Vulnerable Road Users (VRU): Body structure of the S5 is designed to absorb shock upon a crash. Its automatic emergency brake system (AEB) responses well to pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. To prevent injuries, the camera system installed throughout the vehicle works at a satisfactory success rate to detect oncoming cyclists and even motorcyclists when the driver’s door is being opened. Doors can also be opened in vehicle sinking test—meaning occupants can quickly escape in worst case scenarios.
- A score of 78% in Safety Assist: The S5 features various technologies to assist drivers including safety belt reminder for every occupant, a direct driver status monitoring system, lane support system as well as speed assistance system.
