Great Wall Motor has launched the first hybrid-powered pickup truck in Thailand, breaking into new territory where market leaders such as Toyota, Isuzu and Ford are not present.

The POER Sahar HEV is being displayed at the Bangkok International Motor Show where pre-registrations are being accepted, before the pricing will be announced at the official launch in May.

The Sahar HEV comes with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine developing 244 horsepower and 380Nm of torque, as well as a 106-horsepower electric motor with 268Nm.

It has a length of 5,445mm, width of 1,991mm and height of 1,924mm, while the wheelbase is 3,350mm long. Another highlight is the smart tailgate which can open and close in 2 modes.

The cabin features leather upholstery and the front seats come with both massage and ventilation functions. There’s a 12.3-inch center touchscreen with 360-degree camera as well as 10-speaker Infinity audio system.

There are plenty of electronic driver assistance systems including intelligent parking (3 modes) and remote features.
