Thai auto sales surged by 20.6 per cent in November, indicating a positive trend for the automobile market with the annual Motor Expo helping to boost sales significantly.

According to figures compiled by Toyota Motor Thailand (TMT) Co Ltd, a total of 51,044 vehicles were sold in November, a jump of 20.6 per cent compared to the corresponding month period in 2024.

November passenger car sales reached 19,174 units, an increase of 6.5 per cent, while commercial vehicle sales reached 31,870 units, rising by 31.1 per cent, the TMT report stated.

TMT executive vice president Supakorn Ratanawaraha said auto sales during the first 11 months of 2025 reached 546,045 units, posing a growth of 5.3 per cent compared to the same period last year.

“Approximately 40 per cent of Thai auto sales comprise of passenger cars while 60 per cent are commercial vehicles (mainly 1-ton pickup trucks). This shows the importance of the commercial vehicle market that helps drive the Thai automobile industry, Supakorn said, adding that Toyota has a 48.5-per cent market share in the pickup truck market.

From January to November this year, Toyota reported that it sold a total of 205,453 vehicles (up 3 per cent) to claim a leading 37.6-per cent market share. Isuzu is in second place with 65,171 vehicles (down 15.8 per cent) followed by Honda with 63,006 units (down 6.4 per cent).

“There are signs of recovery for December, driven by positive factors such as the 42nd Thailand International Motor Expo 2025,” Supakorn said. “Each manufacturer showcased new models and promotional campaigns to stimulate the market at the end of the year, resulting in a high number of bookings totaling 75,246 units. This represents a 38-per cent increase compared to the previous year and is the highest booking figure for the past 12 years, potentially contributing to the overall growth of the automotive market in December.”
