The Suzuki e Vitara electric SUV has been officially launched in Thailand with a starting price of Bt2,890,000.
Tadaomi Suzuki, president of Suzuki Motor (Thailand) Co Ltd, said the launch of the e Vitara reflects Suzuki’s commitment to expanding its product lineup to meet the rapidly growing demands for EVs.
“This is a vital step for Suzuki in response to the desire of modern consumers constantly searching for a new variety of eco-friendly alternative in transportation,” he said.
Tadaomi added that the introduction of the e Vitara to the Thai market is another important step for Suzuki in its product lineup expansion to meet consumers’ needs, while moving Suzuki forward in a tangible way into the era of EVs as a bid to support the transition of the regional automotive industry, which is presently leaning towards eco-friendly options.
The e Vitara is powered by two electric motors (174ps front and 65ps rear) with combined 307Nm of torque, and a 61kWh battery offers a range of 455kms (NEDC) and can be quick-charged (70kW) from 10-80 per cent in 45 minutes.
According to Suzuki, acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 7.4 seconds and the top speed is claimed at 150km/h.
It also features the ALLGRIP-e system, which is a 4WD system that manages torque distribution between front and rear wheels. There are three modes (Auto, Trail and Pedal) along with Hill Descent Control.
The suspension comprises of McPherson strut up front and multi-link at the rear while brakes are vented discs both front and rear.
The exterior features a glass roof with sunshade, automatic LED headlights with DRL and Adaptive High Beam System (AHS), LED rear lights and LED fog lamps.
The e Vitara has an overall length of 4,275 mm, overall width of 1,800 mm, overall height of 1,635 mm and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, which is relatively long compared to the vehicle’s size. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm and minimum turning radius of 5.2 meters.
The interior features a 10.25-inch display, 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an audio system from Infinity with 8 speakers, along with a subwoofer, amplifier and digital signal processor. The automatic climate control system comes with PM2.5 filter and there’s also a wireless phone charger.
There’s also a 12-color ambient lighting with seven brightness levels, flat-bottomed steering wheel, heated front seats and split-folding rear seats (4-2-4).
