Chinese automaker Chery Automobile is back in Thailand with the official launch of the Omoda C5 EV and the world premiere of the pre-production Jaecoo 6 EV.

The two models are initially imported from China but by mid-2025 local production will take place supplying vehicle to the domestic markets as well as export market including ASEAN, Australia and the Middle East.

Qi Jie, president of OMODA & JAECOO (Thailand) said, “We have established a training center, a pre-delivery inspection center and a spare parts warehouse covering over 1,000 square meters, ready to provide services from August, even before our first car is going to be delivered to Thai drivers.”

“We also plan to expand our service centers and dealerships to 40 locations nationwide by the end of the year,” he added.

For the first 1,000 units, both models come with eight-year/200,000km warranty inclusive of battery, free home wallbox charger, five years emergency roadside assistance, one-year insurance and special gift sets.

The Omoda C5 is available in two variants – Long Range Plus priced at Bt899,000 and Long Range Ultimate priced at Bt949,000. They are powered by a 204-horsepower electric motor with 340Nm of torque and comes with a 61kWh battery offering a driving range of 430kms WLTP.

Acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 7.2 seconds and the top speed is claimed at 172km/h.

It’s 4,424mm long and 1,830 wide, coming with a wheelbase of 2,630mm and front strut rear/multi-link suspension.

All exterior lighting are LEDs (with auto high beam) and with power sunroof for the top variant. There is also V2L capability and a full ADAS package including adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist.

The interior features a large 24.6-inch display and 64-color ambient lighting, leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, ventilated front sports seats, wireless phone charger, 540-degree panoramic view camera and 360-liter luggage compartment.

The Jaecoo 6 electric SUV, meanwhile, is expected to retail at Bt1,099,000 for the long-range 2WD and Bt1,249,000 for the Long Range 4WD variants. Pre-orders are already being accepted.

Battery capacity ranges from 65-70kWh offering WLTP driving ranges of 371km and 364km respectively. In both variants V2L (3.3kW) is offered as standard.

Jaecoo 6

The 2WD offers an output of 184 horsepower and 220Nm while the 4WD has 279 horsepower and 385Nm. Acceleration from 0-100km/h is claimed at 10.5 seconds and 6.5 seconds respectively, while the top speed of both variants is 150km/h. The 4WD variant also features off-road driving modes.

Exterior dimensions are 4,406mm in length and 1,910mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2,715mm. Exterior features include matrix adaptive headlights, panoramic sunroof and powered tailgate.

There’s a 15.6-inch center touchscreen with 540-degree camera, wireless phone charger, Pioneer or Infinity sound system and massage front seats (4WD).
