Volvo has picked Thailand as the venue for the ES90 regional launch, and hopes to stimulate the market with increased range of up to 755kms NEDC (594kms WLTP).
Priced at Bt Bt2.999 million, the ES90 Ultra is a fastback SUV featuring a slightly raised ride height. According to Volvo, the ES90 is built on the SPA2 platform, based on Volvo’s Superset tech stack – a unified set of hardware and software modules that will underpin all upcoming Volvo EVs. It enables continuous OTA improvements in performance and safety throughout the car’s life cycle.
The ES90 is the first Volvo to be fitted with a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin configuration, providing approximately 508 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of AI compute performance, which is used to power the car’s advanced safety features, sensor suite, and other core functions, all managed by the Superset tech stack.
A new 800-volt system makes its debut in the ES90, offering a range of up to 755km NEDC (594km WLTP). Use of lightweight materials and aerodynamic design allows the ES90 to reach 100km/h from standstill in 6.6 seconds.
Quick charging from 10-80 per cent can be achieved in 22 minutes with a 350kW – 10 minutes of charging can provide 300kms of range. The electric motor driving the rear wheels in the ES90 can generate 333 horsepower with average power consumption of 13.5kWh/100km.
The interior is upholstered with Nappa leather and the 3.1-meter wheelbase provides ample legroom for second-row passengers in addition to the ride quality offered by an air suspension system. There’s also a panoramic sunroof with adjustable transparency.
The latest infotainment system with Google built-in is powered by a Snapdragon Cockpit Platform for the 9-inch driver display, head-up display and 14.5-inch center screen. There’s also a high-end Bowers & Wilkins audio system featuring 25 loudspaeksrs.
The luggage compartment has a capacity of 446 liters, which can be increased to 904 liters with the 40/40-40 rear seat backrests are folded. Being an EV, there is also a 27-liter frunk perfect for storing cables.
