MG has revealed details of its new MG3 Hybrid+ subcompact which will be launched in Thailand next month.

The new MG3 Hybrid+ hatchback, which will be produced in Thailand, has a length of 4,113mm and comes with a 2,570mm wheelbase, which is 58mm and 50mm longer than its predecessor respectively.

The new model is also 68mm wider, resulting in more cabin space. According to MG, legroom as well as headroom are above average, despite the new model being 14mm lower in height.

The exterior boasts a stylish front-end with a modern radiator grille and auto-switching “Hunter Eye” LED headlamps. There are also automatic windshield wipers and powered and foldable sideview mirrors with turning lights.

The side profile is highlighted by a good amount of concave/convex surface play along with five-spoke 16-ich alloy wheels.

There’s a roof spoiler at the rear while the tail lights are inspired by a butterfly design. The luggage compartment with 293 liters of space that expands to 1,037 liters with the rear seats folded.

MG claims that the MG3 has the largest cabin space compared to other cars in the B-segment. MG has also thrown in an automatic climate control system with additional rear air vents and rear USB port, although the front seats are not electrically-powered.

There’s a 7-inch driver display and 10.25-inch center touchscreen (with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto) along with a bunch of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and 360-degree camera. A smart key system allows drivers to remotely start the engine.

The interior gets dual-tone color treatment and a large amount of soft-touch areas — there’s a few similarities with the bigger MG4 Electric such as the steering wheel and gear selector knob.

In terms of powertrain, the MG3 features a hybrid system with eight drive modes (including full electric) offering a total output of 136hp and class-leading 250Nm of torque. It can propel the car from 0-100km/h in eight seconds (five seconds from 80-120km/h).

It comes with a 1.83kWh cell-to-pack lithium battery, three-stage KERS and automatic hybrid transmission, allowing the car to cover as much as 800kms on a single tank of fuel.

Suspension comprises of a front strut and rear torsion beam setup while stopping power comes from disc brakes all-round. The steering response has been increased by five percent to provide sharper performance than rival hybrids.

MG says that the MG3 has been tested extensively in extreme cold and hot environment in China and Europe, including 10,000kms around Thailand.
