MG Thailand will officially launch the new MG3 Hybrid on August 20 with prices expected to be below Bt700,000.
It will compete in the hybrid B-segment against popular models such as the Honda City and Toyota Yaris while offering higher specs and lower pricing.
The MG3 Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine mated to an electric motor capable of producing a combined 194 horsepower and 250Nm while offering an average fuel economy of 4.4 liters per 100km WLTP (22.72km/l) according to European test figures.
In July, Thai auto journalists who drove the new MG model from Chiang Mai to Bangkok (approximately 700kms) were able to achieve a fuel economy of 26km/l, running on a single tank of fuel.
The MG3 Hybrid comes with an electronic transmission and 1.83kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a total of eight driving modes.
Thai customers can expect competitive pricing for the MG3 Hybrid. In the UK the MG3 Hybrid is priced at 18,495 to 20,495 pounds (Bt845,221 to Bt936,621) for the SE and Trophy variants respectively. In the Philippines, it retails at 1,088,888 pesos (Bt686,217) for the Hybrid CVT variant.
According to MG, it will retail within the Bt600,000 to Bt700,000 range when officially launched in Thailand.
