This is the GWM Poer Sahar Diesel, China’s latest contender aimed at breaking into the Japanese-dominated 1-ton pickup truck market.

The new truck from Great Wall Motor is priced at Bt849,000 for the PRO 2WD, Bt949,000 for the ULTRA 2WD and Bt1,049,000 for the ULTRA 4WD.

According to GWM Thailand, the Poer Sahar is a large truck with a length of 5,445mm and width of 1,991mm. It has an extended wheelbase of 3,350mm that enhances cargo capacity and cabin space, with rear seats coming with 33-degree reclining function.

The interior also features hi-grade materials plus an advanced NVH control technology. There are also 12.3-inch and 14.6-inch digital displays and wireless charging pad.

The cargo bed can be customized with multiple accessories suited for camping lifestyles, including bed covers, cargo racks and additional storage solutions.

Driving power comes from a 2.4-liter diesel turbo engine capable of producing 184hp and 480Nm, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

GWM Thailand sis not specify the average fuel economy, but stated that with the 78-liter fuel tank, the Poer Sahar Diesel can cover up to 1,000kms on a single tank.

The Poer Sahar’s 4WD system comes with 2H, 4H and 4L. The ground clearance is 224mm and the wading depth is 800mm. There’s also a 360-degree surround camera with Body Transparent underbody visualization and electronic diff lock.

Suspension comprises of double wishbones up front and leaf springs at the rear – wheels are 18-inches with 265/60 tires.
