Hyundai is expanding its product lineup in Thailand with the introduction of the Palisade D-SUV, available in both 2WD and AWD variants priced at Bt2,299,000 and Bt2,499,000 respectively.
Named after an American city like other Hyundai SUVs such as the Tucson and Santa Fe, the Palisade features a monocoque construction offering better handling and ride quality when compared to body-on-frame structure found in many SUVs.
Hyundai hopes that the large dimensions of the Palisade will help attract customers who want a roomy SUV with high comfort levels.
The Palisade has a length of 4,995mm and is 1,975mm wide while the wheelbase is 2,900mm long, and is comparable to large European SUVs in terms of cabin space.
There are three row of seats (the second row are captain seats) and there is cooling/heating function in four of the seats.
In terms of luggage capacity, there is 311 liters with all seats up, 704 liters with third row folded, and 2,447 liters with both the second and third rows folded.
Interior highlights include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker Infinity audio system, push type gearshift selector with paddle shift, overhead air vents for second- and third-row passengers, and lots of storage spaces around the cabin.
While the Palisade is sold with a 3.8-litre petrol engine in United states, its largest market, for Thailand the Korean automaker has decided to offer a more practical 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine previously offered in the Staria MPV.
The engine has been tweaked to pump out more power and torque than in the Staria, increasing to 197ps at 3,800rpm and 440Nm from 1,750-2,750rpm.
