Bangkok, THAILAND – Changan Automobile has positioned Thailand, its first overseas Electric Vehicle (EV) production base, to spearhead its global supply chain efforts in Australia, the UK and ASEAN markets.

Changan’s Rayong plant aims to produce 100,000 vehicles initially, expanding to 200,000 units, according to company management at the “CHANGAN Thailand 2026 Press Conference and New Brand Launch” on March 5.

During the event, the Chinese automaker formally introduced its new brand, Changan NEVO, to the Thai market while presenting a comprehensive business plan aimed at accelerating growth and strengthening its presence in Thailand.

Launched under the concept “The Smart Mobility Home,” the NEVO brand is designed to deliver an intelligent mobility experience tailored for modern families.

Alongside the brand introduction, Changan announced its ambition to become one of the top three Chinese automotive brands in Thailand by 2026, targeting annual sales of 30,000 units.

To achieve this goal, the company will implement a “Double Strategy” — doubling vehicle sales while simultaneously expanding its dealer network.

The plan includes doubling the number of showrooms and service centers to ensure comprehensive coverage across Bangkok and surrounding provinces.

Deng Zhitao, Managing Director of Changan Auto Southeast Asia Co Ltd, stated that the company’s achievements in 2025 marked a major milestone in advancing its global expansion strategy, known as the “Vast Ocean Plan”.

He said, “Thailand has been positioned as a strategic hub for Changan in Southeast Asia, elevating the country’s role within the company’s global operations.”

Changan’s vehicle manufacturing facility in Rayong Province serves as a production hub for both the ASEAN market and global right-hand-drive markets, marking a significant step in the implementation of the Vast Ocean global strategy.

In December 2025, the Rayong facility successfully exported its first batch of vehicles to Europe, highlighting the factory’s production capability and reinforcing Thailand’s role as a global manufacturing base under the concept “Made in Thailand, Sold Globally.”

Meanwhile, Changan in China recently surpassed 30 million cumulative vehicle units produced. The achievement places the company among the top 10 global automobile manufacturers and makes it the fastest Chinese automotive brand to reach 30 million units in combined production and sales, underscoring its accelerating global expansion.

Kris Wu, marketing director for Thailand and Vice President of Changan Auto Sales (Thailand) Co Ltd, revealed that Changan Thailand recorded total sales of 14,065 vehicles in fiscal year 2025, representing 80.9% year-on-year growth. The performance positioned the brand fourth among Chinese automakers in Thailand, just two years after entering the Thai market.

According to Wu, the rapid growth reflects the company’s strong market foundation, competitive product offerings and pricing strategy tailored to Thai consumers. The brand has also focused on building an active owner community, recognizing early adopters who have played a key role in building awareness and trust in the Changan brand among Thai consumers.

He noted that 2025 represented a year of “laying a solid foundation,” while 2026 will focus on “structural upgrades for sustainable growth,” emphasizing quality-driven development rather than pure volume expansion.
