Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda will be in Thailand to show his race car driving skills in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival on December 19 at Toyota Alive Driving Park in Bangkok and the Idemitsu Super Endurance Southeast Asia Trophy 2023 on December 23 at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram.
According to a press release from Toyota Motor Thailand Co Ltd, Toyoda, who races under the alias of “Morizo”, will be bringing along members of the Japanese Rookie Racing Team and a number of rare cars such as the Yaris Rally 1 Hybrid (WRC), Red Bull GR Corolla (Formula Drift Japan) and GR 010 Hybrid (Le Mans WEC).
At the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival, the Japanese contingent will be joined by Toyota Gazoo Team Thailand race drivers from the Super GT Series and a Thai drift champion who will excite the crowd with a fire-spitting GR Supra drift car.
Toyoda and his crew, who took part in last year’s 10-hour Idemitsu endurance race at Chang Circuit, will be back to compete in this year’s event with alternative fuel vehicles such as the Yaris Turbo E-Fuel, Corolla Altis E-Fuel, ORC Rookie GR Corolla H2 Concept, ORC Rookie GR 86 CMF Concept as well as the Prius Hybrid.
