Ford Thailand has decided to offer the 3.0-liter turbo diesel powerplant in its Ranger pickup truck lineup in Thailand.
After taking the Ranger Wildtrak V6 out for off-roading earlier this year, this time we drive it in Bangkok to find out how it performs in the city, both on the highway and narrow Bangkok streets.
According to the American automaker, this new variant is targeted at customers who want a premium family pickup truck that offers good performance along with high levels of comfort and convenience, as well as the latest infotainment system and all-round intelligent safety.
The Ranger Wildtrak V6 is priced at Bt1,519,000 and is positioned right below the two Ranger Raptor variants (3.0 V6 twin turbo petrol and 2.0 bi-turbo diesel).
In terms of appearance, there’s not much difference compared to the 2.0-litre regular Wildtrak except for the larger 20-in wheels, exterior zone lighting and V6 badging. Inside you get a 10-speed E-Shifter as well as 4A-4WD system featuring full-time four-wheel-drive.
The engine is capable of producing 250 horsepower and 600Nm of torque, capable of propelling the truck from 0-100km/h in 8.7 seconds and to a top speed of 190km/h (according to European figures).
