BYD has released a Youtube shorts video of its Yangwang U9 electric hypercar performing automatic six-meter leaps over large potholes and road spikes.
While BYD posted a shorts version in its Youtube channel on January 3 this year, here is the original video of the U9’s “Driverless Consecutive Leaping Test” that was first posted 11 months ago.
The clip showed a driverless U9 being tested in extreme cold (-12C) on a test track consecutively jumping over a 6×2.5m pothole, road spikes and a 4x4m patch of colored speedbumps.

The U9 is powered by four electric motors providing up to 1,287hp. The test speed was 120km/h and the leap distance was measured at over six meters.
Its active suspension consists of three different systems; DiSus-C controls variable damping, DiSus-A controls the air suspension and DiSus-P controls the hydraulic system.
The U9 was first introduced back in 2024 and in September 2025 the U9 Xtreme variant (U9X) with as much as 3,000hp (making it the most powerful car in the world) was added to the lineup. In September last year, the U9X set a new global production-car top-speed record of 496.22km/h at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg test track in Germany.

Here’s a video of the U9X hitting 496.22km/h.
And last but not least, a video of the U9 going through its “Dance Ritual” — turn on your favorite hiphop music for best viewing experience!
