MG has staged the Thailand premiere of its IM5 electric sedan and the Asean premiere of the Eterron 9 electric pickup at the 2025 Motor Expo.

The IM5 is MG’s premium e-sedan with a length of almost five meters, and features the IM Digital Chassis. According to MG, it plays a crucial role in terms of suspension and steering performance, including four-wheel steering.

The IM5 boasts 5-star Euro NCAP rating and a large number of innovative features such as fully-automatic parking and tricky manoeuvers (one-touch iAD), and will represent the premium range for MG starting in early 2026.

While the design has strong Porsche Taycan vibes, the drag coefficient is claimed at 0.226, with 19-inch aerodynamic wheels coming as standard.

According to the MG UK website, the 751hp “Hurricane Motor” produces as much as 802Nm of torque, propelling the IM5 from rest to 100km/h in 3.1 seconds. Quick charging from 10-80% takes 17 minutes (350kW charger) and the range is claimed at 700kms WLTP.

The interior features an ultra-wide 26.3-inch touchscreen and a 10.5-inch central vertical display screen. The seats feature ultra-soft upholstery with heating and ventilation functions.

Apart from the adjustable rear seat backrest, there’s plenty of legroom thanks to the long wheelbase and there’s up to 457 liters of luggage capacity.

Meanwhile, the Eterron 9 has a peak output of up to 436hp from a dual-motor setup achieving 0-100km/h acceleration in 5.8 secs. A 102kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery provides a range of 430kms WLTP. Fast charging (20-80%) takes 40 mins with 115 kW DC chargers.

Also certified with 5-star Euro NCAP, the Eterron 9 features an all-terrain system with mud and sand modes, multi-link suspension with electric air dampers and adjustable ride height.

MG has been highly successful in Thailand and has again won the 2025 Thailand EV of the Year award with the S5 electric B-SUV.

Two years ago, the MG4 Electric won the same award, while the MG3 Hybrid was crowned 2024 Thailand Car of the Year.
