Thoresen Thai Agencies Public Company Limited (TTA) has joined forces with Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co Ltd (King Long) to start selling commercial electric pickup trucks in Thailand.

A joint venture company named P80 Go has been formed to import and distribute King Long vehicles in Thailand with a sales target of 1,000 units during the first year, according to a press release from TTA.

The first showroom featuring King Long electric pickup trucks is located in Bangkok’s Rongmuang area.

Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, president and CEO of TTA, said that the first model to be offered is a single-cab electric pickup with load capacity of 1 ton, available for both fleet and retail sales.

“We’re starting with the highest-demand model, which is the commercial vehicle, and will gradually expand to cover all segments later,” he said. “We chose to partner with King Long because they are a leading electric vehicle manufacturer in China, with advanced EV production technology and over 30 years of expertise in designing and manufacturing commercial vehicles.”

The partnership with King Long to bring electric pickup trucks to the Thai market is part of TTA’s strategy to expand its investment portfolio in the clean energy sector.

“Entering the electric vehicle business is a significant step for us, leveraging TTA’s experience in transportation and logistics,” Chalermchai added.

Chalermchai said the King Long electric pickup truck has been designed for short to medium-range use, suitable for most commercial applications in Thailand. It has undergone rigorous testing to ensure adaptability to the country’s environment and user requirements.

Liu Zhi Jun, president of Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry, added, “The electric vehicle market in Thailand has high potential across personal, commercial and other vehicle types. For the commercial electric pickup truck we’re bringing to market, we focus on developing technology suitable for Thailand’s environment and usage requirements, prioritizing economy, durability, value and low maintenance costs. We aim to sell 1,000 units in the first year of market entry.”

Liu said King Long and TTA are committed to being strong business partners in transforming Thailand’s commercial transport sector to electric and driving the country towards sustainable transportation. P80 Go has opened its first King Long electric pickup showroom in Rongmuang Road and is currently in the process of selecting dealership partners prior to the official launch in Thailand
