Automobile sales in Thailand reached 48,394 units in April, marking a growth of 2.54 per cent compared to the corresponding month last year, according to a report from Toyota Motor Thailand Co Ltd.

Supakorn Rattanawaraha, Executive Vice President of TMT, said, “The May auto market is likely to recover and grow from the previous month. Growth factors include the seasonal index and delivery of vehicles purchased at the recent Bangkok International Motor Show.”

In April, sales of SUV (Passenger Car + SUV) reached 33,654 units, an increase of 9.07 percent compared to from April last year.

Sales of 1-ton pickup trucks during this month were 9,831 units, a 10.11-per cent drop from April 2025. Meanwhile, electric pickup trucks (BEVs) had sales of 109 vehicles, an increase of 36.35 per cent, and PPV sales were 2,619 units, down 16.57 per cent.

During the first four months of 2026, auto sales in Thailand grew by 15.02 per cent to 230,477 vehicles, comprising of 157,099 passenger cars and SUVs (+23.9%), 48,324 pickup trucks (-5.84%) and 14,746 PPVs (+16.35%).

Toyota, the No.1 auto company in the Kingdom, stated it has accumulated sales of 79,180 units during the first four months of the year. This represents a market share of 34.35 per cent and growth of 4.76 per cent compared to the same period last year.

2026 Land Cruiser FJ

The biggest sellers for Toyota were pickup trucks including the Hilux Travo, Revo and Champ (25,194 units) and eco cars like the Yaris and Yaris ATIV (23,952 units).

According to Supakorn, Toyota has commenced deliveries of the Land Cruiser FJ in May.

“The FJ is a new generation of vehicle that has created a phenomenon and received good feedback from customers,” he said. “In May, the number of Land Cruiser FJ reservations will reach 2,000 vehicles.”

Supakorn said the popularity of the new model will contribute to help Toyota maintain its leadership in the Thai car market.
