You are driving your Lamborghini Gallardo quietly on the motorway and minding your own business, when a station wagon suddenly pulls up alongside.
Well, before you floor that pedal, make sure that station wagon isn’t the new Audi RS6 Avant that’s just been launched.

Priced at Bt9.89 million (US$316,353) this fire-breathing family estate comes with a whopping 600hp and 800Nm, generated by a massive twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 powerplant under the hood. This (and its grippy all-wheel-drive system) allows the RS6 Avant to accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds and from 0-200km/h in 12 seconds flat.
The top speed is locked at 250km/h, but can be raised to 280km/h with the optional dynamic package and 305km/h with the dynamic plus package. Well, this is the kind of performance that’s on par with supercars costing twice as much.
The engine features a 48-volt mild hybrid system and up to four cylinders can be switched off to save fuel. The average fuel economy is claimed at 8.7km/liter.

Power goes through an 8-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system with sports differential. The Audi Drive Select function provides two specific RS modes on top of the regular four modes.

Audi says that the RS sport suspension plus comes with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) which features steel springs and three-way adjustable dampers that counteract the movements of the vehicle body with no delay, without the use of electronics.
Apart from all-wheel-drive, there’s also all-wheel steering as well as huge brake discs front and rear (440mm/370mm).

The exterior features glossy black RS styling, HD matrix laserlight that’s two times brighter than LEDs, plus light staging function both front and rear. The wheel arches have also been widened by 40mm on each side to accommodate larger wheels and tires.

Inside, there’s an 3D virtual cockpit plus with 12.3-inch display as well as headup display and 10.1-inch center touchscreen, 360-degree camera, black leather upholstery with red stitching, and lots of space. The standard 565 liters of luggage area can be increased to 1,680 liters with the rear seat backrest folded.
