Suzuki has launched the 2021 minor change version of its popular Swift eco car, coming with upgraded features.

The company plans to sell 30,000 vehicles in Thailand this year, with 12,000 units being the 2021 Swift. Last year it sold 25,528 vehicles in the kingdom, recording a 7-per cent growth while the market declined by more than 20 per cent due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The Swift is an extension of all the successes Suzuki has accomplished so far and will fulfill the desires of drivers who is searching for a sports ecocar to add to their collection,” Minoru Amano, president of Suzuki Motor (Thailand) Co Ltd, said.

The pricing of the 2021 Swift starts at Bt557,000 for the GL trim while the GLX pricing starts at Bt629,000.

The GL comes with the new chrome front grille, powered sideview mirrors, keyless entry with push start, key reminder and automatic air-conditioner.

Meanwhile, the GLX model also gets the chrome front grille along with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED projector headlights and tail lights, Electronic Stability Control, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rearview camera, 6 airbags and disc brakes all-round.

Power comes from a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder DUALJET engine developing 83hp and 108Nm. The fuel economy is claimed at 23km/liter. Both models get a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) plus Hill Hold Control and Idling Stop system.

In order to help boost sales, the company is offering 1.99-per cent interest rate for buyers with monthly installments starting at Bt3,333.
