MG has introduced the MG5 compact sedan for the 2022 model year that comes with added features, offering buyers greater value for money.
Since the MG5 was first introduced in Thailand last year, it quickly became one of MG’s best-selling models, contributing to the brand’s 11-per cent growth in the Thai market during Q1. According to distributor MG Sales (Thailand) Co Ltd, over 4,000 orders were placed within the first month of launch, with more than 11,300 units sold up to date.

For the 2022 model year, a new D+ trim (Bt679,000) has been added to the MG5 lineup in addition to the existing C (Bt585,000), D (Bt625,000) and X (Bt709,000) trims.
In terms of product upgrades for the 2022 MG5, the C and D trims gets 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels respectively, while the X now comes with a sporty rear spoiler.
Meanwhile, the newly-added D+ comes with two-tone front grille, electric sunroof, 7-inch digital display, six-way powered driver’s seat, sunglass holder, cruise control and 3D camera.
In terms of design the MG5 capitalizes on a stylish exterior with a large “Digital Burning” front grille, automatic switching LED headlights, “Leopard Claw” LED rear lights and 5-spoke propeller-styled alloy wheels.
The upmarket European styling of the MG5 has proven to be popular among younger buyers. Many of them like to customize their vehicles, and the MG5’s sporty appearance serves as a solid foundation for further customization.

The MG5 also boasts considerably larger dimensions than other sedans in the Bt700,000 neighborhood. It is 4,675mm long and 1,842mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2,680mm.
The sporty MG5 features a driver-focus cockpit with a low seating position, along with elegant “3D Diamond Design” center console trim. Apart from a sports multi-function steering wheel, the driver enjoys a 7-inch digital display as well as 10-inch center touchscreen. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is provided.

The infotainment system comprises of MG’s i-SMART technology, which now comes with a digital key, allowing the driver to start the engine via smartphone, as well as sending key codes to other users.

The MG5’s “Euro Tuning Suspension” comprises of a front McPherson strut with stabilizer and rear torsion beam set up, while the electric power steering has three assistance levels that can be selected via the touchscreen. Stopping power comes from discs all-round.
