Mercedes-Benz has introduced the first diesel-electric plugin hybrid with the launch of the GLE 350 de 4MATIC Exclusive, priced at Bt4.699 million.

The This raises the number of GLE models in the Thai market to two models – the other being the GLE 350 d 4MATIC AMG Dynamic priced at Bt5.19 million.

“By combining plug-in hybrid technology with the strength of a diesel engine, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 de 4MATIC Exclusive is the first diesel plug-in hybrid that is introduced in Thai car market. And everyone is welcome to experience it now,” said Roland Folger, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Thailand Co Ltd.

The new diesel-electric model comes with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel internal combustion engine (194hp, 400Nm) plus an electric motor (136hp, 440Nm), offering a combined output of 320 horsepower and a whopping 700Nm of torque.

Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes-Benz claims 0-100km/h acceleration in 6.8 seconds and a top end of 210km/h.

The exterior highlights of the GLE 350 de include LED headlights and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The interior features Nappa leather and brushed metal styling. There’s a long list of features, including headup display, two 12.3-inch hi-resolution display screens, touchpad control system, and the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system with AI and voice control. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.

The rear seat backrests can be folded electrically to increase luggage space from 490 liters to 1,915 liters.

There are plenty of safety features including lots of airbags and intelligent driver assistance systems.
