Mazda is hoping to attract Gen Z buyers with the 2023 Mazda2 subcompact that comes with a large number of attractive styling packages.
Priced from Bt559,000 to Bt830,000, the 2023 Mazda2 is available in both sedan and five-door hatchback variants, each with five trim levels. There are also two special edition hatchback models – Rookie Drive Sports and Clap Pop Sports – for customers looking for further styling enhancements.

The launch event of the 2023 Mazda2 on June 21 was staged at Siam Square, which is an all-time favorite hangout zone for young Bangkokians and members of Gen Z, which are target customers. The event consisted of a large number of activities, ranging from talk shows to driving show as well as a mini concert by BAMM.


The 2023 Mazda2 comes with two front end designs. The traditional Sport Design features a glossy black mesh front grille design while the New Wave Design is a little funkier and features a colored front panel usually found in electric vehicles.
There’s also a larger number of color choices for both the exterior and interior, allowing customers to create their own unique combinations.
The Mazda2 comes with two engine choices. First is a 1.3-liter SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine developing 93hp and 123Nm while the second is a 1.5-liter turbo diesel with 105hp and 250Nm. Average fuel economy is claimed at 23.3km/l and 26.3km/l respectively.

Both engines get 6-speed automatic transmission with manual mode (and steering wheel shift paddles on upper trims) while G-Vectoring Control Plus is offered in all trim levels, along with LED projector headlights with auto levelling, auto emergency braking and noise-cut windshield.

While upper trims get the full i-Activsense intelligent safety package, lower trims also enjoy some intelligent features such as Advanced Smart City Brake Support, Idling Stop System (i-STOP) and Mazda Regenerative Braking System (i-ELOOP).
In terms of infotainment there’s a 7-inch center touchscreen with Center Commander controller, wireless phone charger as well as wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto.


Two new designs of the New Mazda2: Sport Design and New Wave Design
The Sport Design that delivers a sporty appearance with new front bumper and Mesh Grille design front grille. Its sportiness appearance is uplifted with black door mirror cover, black roof and newly-designed 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior features new seat design that is made from leather and Grand Luxe Suede to enhance sportiness and elegance. The sporty interior design has been uplifted by red stitching and red accents to appeal to younger buyers.


The New Wave Design gives a sense of lively feeling with a new front bumper, new front grille and new alloy wheels. The interior design has been enhanced with a range of instrument panel trim colors variations including Pure White, Mirror Black and Gross Light Blue that matches the distinctive color of exterior and new design of alloy wheel. The instrument panel is also made from bioplastic that’s environmentally-friendly and gives a sense of high quality.

Mazda2 Rookie Drive and Clap Pop
The New Mazda2 Rookie Drive has been enhanced with unique exterior design ranging from new front grille design in white, white/black roof that is designed differently based on exterior color to express distinctive character. The New Mazda2 Rookie Drive also features Racing Orange rear roof spoiler, door mirror cover, front grille/rear bumper accent, full wheel cap set and center decal set.

The Clap Pop enhances sportiness with new front grilled design. It features Ceramic Metallic door mirror cover and full wheel cap set, white front bumper and white roof to express its outstanding appearance. Clap Pop center decal set is also featured for young buyers looking for further customization details.
