Great Wall Motor (GWM) from China is preparing to launch its third product in Thailand this year – the Haval Jolion Hybrid.

Earlier this year, GWM introduced the H6 SUV as its first product and late last month followed up with the ORA Good Cat EV that is fully imported from China duty-free thanks to the China-Asean Free Trade Agreement.

Thailand is the first country in the world to witness the launch of the Jolion Hybrid, which is assembled at the GWM plant in Rayong province (purchased from General Motors) along with the H6. GWM officials said this is the company’s second full-process plant outside of China.

Currently, GWM’s plant in Rayong has a workforce of 800 people – GWM intends to hire more up to 1,000 people in total by early 2022.

The Jolion, meanwhile, shares the GWM Lemon platform with the H6, and comes with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5-liter engine plus electric motor developing 190hp and 375Nm.
