BMW Motorrad is launching the C 400 GT scooter in Thailand with the latest model coming with a number of upgrades.

It’s unlikely to see the C 400 GT being used by delivery boys though – the sporty BMW scooter is priced at Bt419,000 (US$12,906) for the base version and Bt429,000 (US$13,214) for the “Triple Black” version (that combines Blackstorm metallic base paint with matte tapes).

The C 400 GT is powered by a single-cylinder engine with an output of 34hp at 7,500 rpm and a torque of 35Nm at 5,570 rpm. The engine is mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). BMW Motorrad says that “there’s a torsionally-stiff drivetrain swing arm with innovative swing arm bearing for minimum vibration and therefore maximum comfort.”

To elevate the drivability, the engine has been equipped with an “electronic throttle grip” (E-gas) and an electrically operated throttle valve as well as a new engine management system. A range of additional optimizations such as improved exhaust system to modified idle speed control, offers smoother and more sensitive throttle response as well as increased idling stability. In addition to E-gas and new engine management, the optimized springs for the centrifugal clutch also contribute to increased engine stability.

Other new features include new ASC system with better response and comfort on wet roads, new brake calipers front and rear, as well as improved lighting in the storage compartment, which now comes with a USB port.
