Chinese auto producer Changan Automobile has officially opened its first showroom in Thailand with a goal to reach 80 to 100 showrooms by the end of this year.
Deepal Roongcharoen Bangna was recently opened and features both showroom and service center, with a capacity of servicing 20 vehicles per day, according to Changan Auto Sales (Thailand) Co Ltd.
According to the Chinese auto maker, the new facility is spacious and equipped with modern features, allowing customers to experience the company’s latest technologies as well as test driving the two full-electric Deepal models currently on sales in Thailand — the L07 and S07.
The service center offers a wide range of work, including vehicle maintenance, technical issues, body repair, paint job, etc.
Changan recently invested Bt8.8 billion to build an assembly factory in Thailand with initial plans to produce up to 100,000 vehicle per year. It plans to offer a variety of powertrain choices including EVs, PHEVs as well as REEVs (Range Extended Electric Vehicles) for both domestic and export markets.
While the Changan factory will cover all aspects or production including paint shop, assembly, engine and battery, the second phase investment will bring the total investment to Bt20 billion with production to eventually reach 200,000 units per year, the company stated. Thailand will serve as the production base for the whole Asean market as well as other right-hand-drive markets around the world.
