More than 54,000 orders were placed for new automobiles and motorcycles at this year’s Thailand International Motor Expo, which helped generate an estimated Bt56 billion in revenues.
Kwanchai Paphatphong, chairman of the organizing committee, said automobile sales were up by more than 10 per cent compared to last year with top brand being Honda (6,842), Mazda (6,509), Toyota (5,907), Isuzu (4,437) and Mitsubishi (3,619).
Honda was the most popular motorcycle brand with 1,531 orders followed by Yamaha (1,111), Lambretta (1,012), Kawasaki (775) and Vespa (605).
Kwanchai said that more than 1.5 million visitors came to the event, an increase of 12.8 per cent.
He said passenger cars were the most popular choices with top-selling models being the Honda Civic, City and Jazz, as well as the Mazda2 and MG3.
Orders for over 4,200 luxury cars were placed this year with top brands being Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, Audi and Porsche.
