The MG ZS offered in the Thailand and Vietnam markets has been given a 5-star crash rating from ASEAN NCAP, scoring an overall 81 points.
The agency stated in its website that the 2020 MG ZS 1.5L C+ performed well, scoring 44.82 points in adult occupant protection (AOP), 20.90 points in child occupant protection (COP) and 15.28 points in safety assist technology (SAT).

“This is the second assessment that ASEAN NCAP performed on the MG brand with the first model tested in 2018. The MG ZS that ASEAN NCAP tested was of petrol-based engine sold in the Thailand and Vietnam markets. The SUV performed well in the test by obtaining 44.82 points for AOP, 20.90 points for COP and 15.28 points for SATs,” the ASEAN NCAP stated. “The model is equipped with a minimum of 2 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control and Seatbelt Reminder System as standard fitment across its variants. In the assessment, the MG ZS has successfully achieved an overall score of 81.00 points which makes it eligible for 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating,” it stated.
For frontal impact, it added, “Data from the test showed the SUV provided good protection to the occupants with the vehicle remaining stable in the frontal offset test. Nevertheless, there were marginal and adequate protection given to both the occupants’ chests.”
