Mercedes-Benz has launched the local production version of the C 300 e PHEV (Plugin Electric Hybrid Vehicle), offering even lower prices than the previously imported model.

Both cars are assembled at the Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant (TAAP) plant in Samt Prakarn province and feature a new 13.5 kWh Li-ion battery with 111 per cent increase in capacity compared to the previous battery generation. It takes 1 hour and 50 minutes to recharge from 10 per cent of battery capacity to full via a Mercedes wall box charger.

Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Ltd president Roland Folger said, “Mercedes-Benz will continuously offer sustainable products as we are recognized as a leader in eco-friendly vehicles. Our parent company, Daimler AG, is now setting an ambitious goal to ensure that by 2030 half of our global car sales will be plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles.”

“This year, we will continue crystallising and integrating concepts of advanced mobility and eco-friendly lifestyles into our products and services. In terms of products, we want to reiterate our reputation as a pathfinder in electric vehicle innovations as we continue to offer our customers performance and luxury from Mercedes-Benz, while at the same time, significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions per vehicle,” he added.
Frank Steinacher, vice president of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Ltd, said the C 300 e is a third-generation plug-in hybrid vehicle.

“A plug-in hybrid engine setup with electric motor makes it shine in performance while a capacity-upgraded Li-ion battery extends estimated range when driving in pure electric mode by up to 30 per cent,” he said.
The C 300 e also comes with ‘Mercedes me connect’, that offers connectivity among customers, Mercedes-Benz vehicles and dealers. The system features several outstanding functions and allows Mercedes-Benz’s owners to customize additional services and functionalities via an app on smartphones.
