Leading the BMW new product lineup for 2020 is the M8 Competition Coupe, priced at a whopping Bt17.999 million.
It’s that time of the year that automakers introduce new models at the Bangkok Motor Show, scheduled for end of March. But this year the event has been postponed to a further date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The M8 Competition is boasts the most powerful engine ever developed for a BMW M car – a 4.4-liter V8 with M TwinPower Turbo developing as much as 625 hp at 6,000 rpm and 750 Nm from 1,800-5,860 rpm.

The engine is mated to an 8-seed M Steptronic transmission and the power is transmitted via the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. BMW claims acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.

The M8 Competition also comes with a specially-developed cooling system that allows it to be driven in circuits without overheating problems.

The 20-inch wheels with sports tires run on M-specific Adaptive suspension with electronically-controlled dampers and electro-mechanical M Servotronic steering. BMW says that in M Dynamic mode, a greater degree of wheel slip is allowed, and once combined with the M xDrive system’s rear-biased setup, delivers an exceptionally sporty drive with controlled drifts through corners.

The interior features a 12.3-inch fully-digital screen and a 10.25-inch control display.

There’s also a new setup button on the center console that enables direct access to the settings for the engine, dampers, steering, M xDrive and braking system. Another new feature is the M Mode button on the center console, which the driver can use to adjust the driver assistance systems and the displays in the instrument cluster and Head-Up Display.
