BMW recently staged the groundbreaking ceremony for BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand, the fourth company under BMW Group Thailand.
The new company was set up in May this year and has a registered capital of Bt560 million.
It will install complex and high standard technologies to produce motorcycle parts/components and supply them for the assembly of BMW Motorrad vehicles at BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand’s plant in Rayong province from 2023, the company stated in a press release.

Knut Boelcker, managing director of BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand, said this is the first component plant for BMW Motorrad outside of Germany. “It will add to the strengths of BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand and the BMW production network while also plays an important role for BMW Motorrad in extending the future model portfolio and investment in ASEAN. This will increase the flexibility of our overall production network and future strategies.”
The new facility will be located within tthe BMW Group Manufacturing Plant Thailand complex covering an area of approximately 11,000 square meters. The plant will have a standard capacity of over 50,000 components/parts per year, which will require around 200 total workforce employment after the ramp-up phase, according to BMW. BMW Group has estimated a total investment of approximately Bt2.35 billion – the construction phase is planned for 2021 to 2022 while production is expected to commence in August 2023.
