Nissan has pulled the wraps off the all-new Navara pickup truck in Australia, with the new model scheduled to be on sale at the end of Q1 next year.
Nissan Thailand has not disclosed whether the new model, currently specifically for sale in Australia and New Zealand, will be shown at this year’s Motor Expo starting on November 29, only hinting that it would introduce the X-Trail hybrid SUV at the event.
The new Navara is the result between the Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and is based on the Mitsubishi Triton. It comes with a 2.4-liter Mitsubishi turbo diesel engine capable of developing 204 horsepower and 470Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission to deliver an average fuel economy of 7.7l/100km WLTP (13km/l).
According to Nissan, a newly-adopted electric power steering (EPS) system enhances maneuverability and enables superior handling performance.
The new Navara also comes with an advanced four-wheel-drive system that automatically switches modes based on driving conditions. It shifts to two-wheel drive during highway driving and engages four-wheel drive when towing or handling heavy-duty tasks.
An electronically-controlled differential lock is standard on all variants, while the suspension has been optimized specifically for Oceania’s driving environment, Nissan stated.
Advanced driver-assistance systems include Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), an emergency lane-keeping system that assists steering to help avoid danger, and Intelligent Speed Limiter.
The exterior design features a signature V-motion grille, C-shaped headlamps and three-part intake openings outlined in orange for the PRO-4X variant. The Navara PRO-4X’s black interior, which is totally Mitsubishi Triton including the seats, also gets sporty orange accents.
Inside, there’s a multi-function steering wheel, analog driver display, 9-inch center touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and automatic climate control.
