Toyota entering a new market with the global unveiling of the Corolla Cross in Bangkok, Thailand.
Priced from Bt989,000 to Bt1.199 million, the Corolla Cross is available with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine as well as hybrid powertrain choices.
The Cross is built from the Corolla’s TNGA platform and is assembled at the Toyota Gateway plant in Chachoengsao province. TMT president Michinobu Sugata said the new model will also be exported from Thailand to other countries.
The 1.8 Sport model is powered by a 140-hp engine with 177Nm of torque, mated to a CVT. The Hybrid has a 98-hp engine with 142Nm as well as an electric motor churning up another 53kW and 163Nm (total system output is claimed at 122hp).
Fuel economy ranges from 15.4km/l for the 1.8 gasoline and 23.3 km/liter for the 1.8 hybrid, which uses a nickel-metal hydride battery.
The suspension comprises of McPherson struts up front and torsion beam at the rear. Stabilizers are offered both front and rear. Brakes are discs all-round.
Powered back door with kick sensor and panoramic sunroof are available, along with Toyota Safety Sense.
